Three Signs You Need New Tires

No matter what, your tires will need to be changed for new ones eventually. Of course, how soon you'll need new tires depends on the type of vehicle you're driving, the type of roads you frequent often, and how much you drive. Here are three signs that indicate that you need to buy new tires.

1. Flat Tire or Blowout - The most obvious way to tell that your tire is past its usability is when it fails. While a flat may not be because of your tire's wear, the longer you wait to change your tires over to new ones, the more susceptible you are to flat tires and blowouts.
2. Tread Depth - Low tread can result in your tire losing traction when you need it the most. You can check your tread depth by using the quarter or the penny test. The penny test is when you hold Abraham Lincoln's body between your fingers, place his head into the tread, and, if your tire is below his head, your tread is too low.
3. Manufacture Date - Tires are manufactured to last about six years. To learn how old your tire is, look on the tire wall for a manufactured date. If your tire is six years or older, it's time to be replaced.
